Ready to start feeling confident and present in your life?
Helen Sowards-Emmerd, LMSW
You remember a time when stress, anxiety, and low motivation weren’t the norm… but those days feel like a distant memory. Don’t you wish you had the tools to change that?
You’ve come to the right place.
I’m Helen Sowards-Emmerd, and I help those struggling with major life changes and/or symptoms of anxiety and depression that have become barriers in your day-to-day life. You have it in you to get back to the old you, you just need the support to get there.
I help my clients find meaning, confidence, and purpose by equipping them with the tools they need to break out of the barriers holding them back.
Many of today’s solutions for stress, anxiety, and depression are one-size-fits-all. Sometimes they’re easy to do within sessions but then very difficult to implement on your own. This can lead to feeling hopeless moving forward. I know you are a unique individual, so our work is tailored to your personal needs and goals.
First, we explore your current struggles that are holding you back from moving forward. Then we discuss personal values and how they connect to your goals and daily actions. We talk about what initial steps will be most effective for you based on your starting point. Through our work together you’ll gain insight and skills to move forward focusing on what you have control over.
I am dedicated to helping people get unstuck.
My training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy means I have the expertise you need and deserve when battling symptoms holding you back. But at the end of the day, you want to know you’re working with someone who “gets” what it means to be stuck and struggling with symptoms that make it feel like every step you take forwards you’re taking another two back, right?
I get it because I have devoted my career providing therapy for the past sixteen years to those dealing with life transitions, depression, anxiety, and struggles to be ok with life changes that felt like they were out of their control. I worked in outpatient mental health at the VA for 11 years providing therapy to Veterans and their families. I know that sometimes you can feel like giving up. So when we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist. You’ll get someone who truly cares and understands what you’re going through.
