Life Transition Therapy
Mindfulness-Based Therapy in Jackson and Online Therapy Throughout Michigan
Are you having a difficult time adjusting to a recent change in your life?
Maybe a job change, a move, the ending of a relationship, or an adult child moving back into the home. You may be feeling overwhelmed, or simply unsure of which direction to go.
Whatever it is you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to see the impact of this in different areas of your life. You may notice:
- Difficulty with focus and getting things done
- That you get annoyed or irritated with little things
- That you dwell on what isn’t going well
- Self judgements
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can help.
It may feel impossible now, but you can feel more confident, in control, and back on track. And I can help you get there.
ACT helps you:
- Process your current stressors focusing on what’s happening in the present moment
- Build mindfulness skills to be in the present moment
- Untangle from unhelpful thinking and focus on what you have control over
- Step back from thoughts that drag you into the negative or worries
I’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to working with life transitions comes from a place of hope, understanding, and skill building so that you can address this transition and move forward with a sense of peace and resilience.
It’s time to focus on what you have control over and enjoy life again.
I can help you get there.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are ACT sessions like?
ACT sessions usually start with a mindfulness exercise. We then discuss what happened between sessions, progress towards goals and work on building new skills to address symptoms.
How do I know if ACT will work for me?
Typically results are based on the effort that you put into treatment. If you are not open to try/practice mindfulness then ACT is likely not a good fit.
How long do I need to be in therapy?
With ACT the skills can typically be learned in 12 weekly sessions. After that we would decide together if you’d like additional support with use of skills and symptoms or if you’re feeling symptoms have resolved and are ready to complete treatment at that time.
How do we get started?
To get started you are welcome to self-schedule on the contact page for a free consultation call. After that call I will send you paperwork to complete prior to the initial intake session and we will schedule our first session.
